Fixed data or unlimited daily?
Both run on the same eSIM and API. The difference is how data is counted and what happens when it runs out.
10GB for your 30-day trip
Unlimited data for 10 days
What works after the daily allowance
Unlimited daily plans keep you online at a reduced speed once the high-speed data is used. Here's what each speed handles.
| Activity | 1 Mbps | 2 Mbps | 3 Mbps |
|---|---|---|---|
| Audio streamingSpotify, Apple Music, podcasts | Works well ~0.05–0.15 Mbps | Works well | Works well |
| Email & messagingGmail, WhatsApp, Slack | Works well | Faster | Instant |
| Web browsingText-heavy sites, search, maps | Basic sites | Faster loading | Image-rich sites |
| Social mediaFacebook, X, Instagram feeds | Text & small images | Faster loading | Photos & short clips |
| Business appsRemote desktop, text-based tools | Basic use | Smoother | Responsive |
| VideoYouTube, short clips | Not recommended | Basic quality | Standard quality |
| Video callsWhatsApp, Zoom, Teams | Audio only | Low quality | Works well |
| Light work & studyDocs, online classes, email | Limited | Good fit | Comfortable |
Speeds are best-case figures. Actual speed varies with the local network and is often lower at peak hours or in crowded areas.
When does a plan start?
Every plan has a billing trigger that decides when its validity starts counting. Check it before you list a plan, so customers buy at the right time.

Traditional or prepaid local eSIM?
Most plans are traditional roaming eSIMs. Prepaid local plans, the ones that start right after purchase, trade flexibility for local network speed.
How to spot themPrepaid local eSIM plans carry a local IP tag in the plan name, e.g. MYIP in Malaysia 20GB 15Days (MYIP). Learn more about this plan type
Selling prepaid local plans
The bigger trade-off isn't the refund policy, it's visibility: eSIM status, SM-DP+ status and data usage often can't be checked via API. Add these safeguards to your store.
- Warn at checkoutTell customers the plan starts the moment they place the order.
- Suggest same-day purchaseRecommend buying on the day of travel or on arrival, then installing straight away.
- Flag limited trackingLet customers and your support team know status and usage may not be visible.
- Set refund expectationsMake clear that refunds aren't possible once the order is submitted.
